Each rating says how many points, goals or runs a team is better or worse than an average team on a neutral field. It updates after every game from the final score and carries part of last season into the new one.
To compare two teams, subtract one rating from the other and add home advantage. A rating measures team strength. It is not a pick, and in our own testing it was not more accurate than sportsbook closing lines.
